The Acolytes fight their way out of the Red Cages, and reach the city of Xicarph, where the Festival of Tattered Fates is in full swing. The Acolytes track and find the White Scholar, the last contact of their former Inquisitor.
He reveals to them many details about Xicarph and the Festivall, most important that it is impossible to leave the city until the Grand Conjunction has come and gone. During the Conjunction, all laws of the Imperium can be broken, and it will be a period of great violence and chaos in the city. While they're gathered, the Acolytes are attacked by Heron-masked thugs.
After defeating them, the Acolytes decide to join a few gladiatorial fights in order to earn some thrones to fund their stay in Xicarph.
