Session 29 (200 xp)

"The Emperor asks only that you hate"

Acolytes: Meghera, Lazerus, Serghar, Monroe.

Lazerus and Serghar disperse the mob, but are attacked by a few Pilgrims of Hayte, members of the Chaos Cult led by the Heron Mask. Obdahia thanks the Acolytes, and offers to guide them to the Collapsed Ramparts, where the Heron Mask and his followers were last seen. Serghar and Lazerus decide to rest for the day, also to wait for Meghera and Monroe to be ready for the next challenge.

The day after, they decide to follow up on Papa Grist's request, and go to visit the Spider Bride in the pleasure district of the Akasen Follies. They're impressed with the Bride show of power, and strike a deal with her: they just need to deliver a "gift" (a sealed silver box) to Papa Grist. Then she will share with them important secrets.

The Acolytes go back to Fate's Wheel, but a quarrel sparks between Monroe and Serghar, and during the ensuing fight, Monroe is killed by Lazerus. While Lazerus and Serghar enter the gambling house, Meghera remains outside.

Papa Grist opens the box, thinking the Spider Bride's head is inside, and is surprised by the arachne-servitor that jumps out of the box, and decapitates him. His cronies, the mighty Crackmarrow and the psyker Bliss, attack the Acolytes. Crackmarrow smashes Lazerus' chest, and Bliss tries her mental powers on Serghar. But she accidentally unleashes the Warp's darkest dangers, and is possessed by a Daemonhost! The creatures starts to wreak fiery havoc in the hall, and burns it to the ground. Serghar and Lazerus will later be found among the ruins, miraculously alive, but in need of medical care.

Meghera returns to the Spider Bride, where she learns of the Heron Mask plan of plunging Xicarph in chaos and destruction, and of the Widower's involvement in this terrible game. She also receives an invitation to Gabriel Chase, the ancient Haarlock mansion where the noble and powerful of Xicarph plan to spend the 13 hours of the Great Conjunction.

Meghera goes to retrieve her fallen comrades, but she's stone-walled by the local Sentinels. She tries to intimidate them to release her fellow Acolytes by claiming to be a member of the Inquisition. Having no hard evidence to validate her claim, she's taken into custody.
