The Acolytes take care of the Pilgrims, but are overwhelmed by the Widower. The intervention of a Sentinel aricraft with heavy weaponry saves the day. The Widower escapes.
The day after, the First Hour sounds in Xicarph, and the Acolytes make their way to Gabriel Chase. The enormous mansion spans a few kilometers, with huge artificial gardens, pastures, and the Manse itself, a majestic building with hundreds of rooms.
In the middle of it all, is the Steel Clock, where the Keystone, a dark stone of unknown origins, is kept. The Acolytes spend a few hours mingling with the guests, and reunite with Lady Melua, who has finally found her brother Lar'ax.
The young man is unresponsive, and on further inspection the Acolytes notice that his heart has been removed, yet he still breathes! As Lazerus performs a mercy-kill, Lar'ax body rips apart, to be replaced by the Daemonhost that took possession of Bliss a few days before.
The Daemonhost unleashes hellish fire, but after a first strategic retreat, Meghera decapitates the creature with a well place shot of her trusted long-las.
The investigation continues, and the Acolytes spot a Pilgrim of Hayte coming out of a secret passage. After killing the Pilgrim, the Acolytes make their way into the passage.
