After wandering in the secret passages, the Acolytes arrive in a room where a man wearing a Jackal Mask, together with a few followers, is torturing a nobleman. The masked man is Marcus Vulpa, leader of the Red Cages Slavers, the one who imprisoned the Acolytes in the under-belly of Xicarph. The Acolytes kill him, and free the nobleman.
Hours go by, when finally the 13th hour strucks. The sun is obscured, and a dark light spreads on the planet: the Tyrant Eye has fixed on Quaddis! A great chaos ensues, as the Widower and the Heron Mask make their appearances, with Pilgrims of Hayte discharging their weapons on the guests.
The Widower rips the Heron Mask apart, and proceeds to the indiscriminated slaughter of guests and Pilgrims. The Acolytes face the living horror, at the same time shooting at the Steel Clock to dislodge the Keystone. As the icy stone falls to the ground, the Acolytes focus their fire-power on the Widower, and hack him to pieces. His last words are a dark omen:
“He comes - the master - I am his herald. By the footsteps of fools he is announced. The Mirror shatters and the Island Burns. He returns, the Dark Traveller, and ruin comes with him."
