The Acolytes are sent to Iocanthos to investigate the weird phenomena plaguing the site of a new cathedral dedicated to Saint Drusus.
After a short warp travel on the Brazen Sky, they disembark at Port Suffering, where they must contact Aristarchus the Seer, also a servant of their Inquisitor. On the streets of Port Suffering, they have a scuffle with a group of young Ashleen, wildling natives that follow "the old ways". As the local enforcers arrive, the Acolytes are help out by Gallia, an Arbitrator in Aristarchus' service.
Finally in the presence of the Seer, he explains to the Acolytes that they will travel to Stern Hope, a small village growing in the proximity of the Cathedral's site. The consacration of the Cathedral will be in five days, and nothing must disturb the ceremony.
The day after at dawn, the group departs Port Suffering, for a two days trip through the barren landscape of Iocanthos. On the way, they experience weird, ghostly events, but they eventually reach Stern Hope without too much troubles.
