Session 9 (200 xp)

"Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment."

Acolytes: Jarr, Meghera, Metalus, Dar, Mongrel.

Dar and Metalus make contact with the local authorities, asking for help. When they declare to have been sent to Acreage by the Planetary Governor, they're held in custody, and eventually have a meeting with an unnamed woman who reveals herself aas an Adepta Sororitas. The Acolytes identify themselves as members of the Inquisition, and receive supplies and help.

Together with 10 local guards, and three bombards, they assault the sky-mill, saving Jarr, Meghera, and Mongrel, all of them left for dead among piles of rotten corpses. When the sky-mill falls, the Slaugth tries a final assault, but it's killed by the explosion of a barrel of gunpowder.

With the creature destroyed, the Acolytes plan their return trip to Scintilla. Unfortunately, while attempting to heal Jarr's injuries, by accident Mongrel summons eldritch energies that burn the feral scum to a crisp, killing him.

Back on Scintilla, the Acolytes are assigned to the service of Inquisitor Vaarak. They must infliltrate Hive Sibellus' nobility, and find out more about the Joyous Choir, a new-found sect of Imperial Creed. They will be helped by Laurent Strophes, an ex-Imperial officer, and his daughter Julia Strophes, a socialite. Laurent is an old friend of Vaarak, and his niece Saia has disappeared not long after joining the Joyous Choir.
