"Life is a prison, death a release"
Acolytes: Meghera, Mongrel, Magnus, Metalus.
The Acolytes, with the help of Laurent Strophes, manage to take care of all the assassins. The day after, they travel with an ornithopter to the walking city of Ambulon, where they believe the Serrated Query must be active.
In Ambulon, they contact the Oracle Ocular, a tech-priest with amazing deductive powers, who reveals to them that the technology used to create the harmony meters is actually not xenogen, but human. The creators of the circuitry are the Andranti, and ancient faction believed to be extinct. The Oracle also reveals that the Joyous Choir is just a front for the Serrated Query, “An ancient group of cut-throat black marketers, willing to deal in any commodity as long as there is profit to be had. Some whisper that they’re in league with the Ruinous Powers. Their symbol resembles a hooked sickle, a question mark formed from a blade.”
The Acolytes visit the local temple of the Joyous Choir, and in an underground laboratory, where the Serrated Query is producing vast quantities of farcosia, they have their final showdown with Theodosia.
Magnus sacrifices himself to bring down the terrifying monk, immolating both of them in the fiery explosion of a dozen fire-bombs. The surviving Acolytes destroy the lab, inflicting a severe blow to the Serrated Query. Their mission complete, they leave Ambulon to return to Sibellus.
