Session 14 (1,000 xp)

"No man that died in the Emperor's service died in vain."

Acolytes: Mongrel, Meghera, Aenid, Dar, Metalus.

Running away blindly, the Acolytes reach a massive open area, in which one half of a large dark-hulled ship sticks out of a rocky outcropping. Mongrel and Aenid recognize it as a Black Ship. Before they can apporach it, they're challenged by an armed team: Calculus-Logi Trempan, Enginseer Molochan, Sergeant Forden and Lady D. The four are actually another Inquisitorial team sent on the Twilight by Inquisitor Soldevan to recover the Liber Daemonica, another possession of Inquisitor Adorjin. The Acolytes ally with Soldevan's team, and together they enter the Black Ship.

Inside, they meet a congregation of Warp Ghosts, apparently responsible for the appearance of the Twilight so near to Scintilla: many of the ghosts hail from that planet, and want to return home. Among the ghosts, there's a former Acolyte, Ishtvan Vogel, who guides the Acolytes to the resting place of Inquisitor Adorjin, still frozen with her sword stuck in the icy corpse of the daemon she defeated centuries before.

The Acolytes recover the Luminous Reproach, and Sgt. Forden gets the book. Then, in an attempt to escape, he turns on his own team, blowing Lady D's head off with his gun. The Acolytes kill him, and find on him the sign of the Serrated Query.

The Warp Ghost Ishtvan guides them to a few still fnctioning escape pods, when the Warp rips open, and Haemonculus Akirvas with a team of Dark Eldar Corsairs intercepts the Acolytes. After a short but bloody fight, the Acolytes defeat their opponents, also helped by the sudden re-appearance of Brother-Sergeant Agamorr, heavuly wounded but still alive.

The bombardment of the Twilight begins, and the Acolytes seal themselves into the escape pods, and are jettisoned into the open space...
