"Ruthlessness is the kindness of the wise"
Acolytes: Aenid, Mongrel, Meghera, Dar, Monroe.
During the trip on the Cygnan Martyr, a storm strikes, and the Acolytes find refuge in their cabins. One of the passengers, Abbot Tamas, takes this opportunity to strike at them. He is in reality a follower of the Dancer at the Threshold, a daemonic entity that the Acolytes banished many months before. The Abbot psychic powers are no match for Mongrel's, but their fight is not easily concealed.
After the storm, a ship of wreckers attacks the Martyr, and it is only thanks to the Acolyte's involvement that the sky-pirates are routed. The Captain thanks the Acolytes, and reveals to them that there are no arrangements to bring them back from the House of Dust and Ash, but he will wait for them a few days while he performs some repairs.
At the House, the Acolytes are shown to their room, and meet their contact, Locutor Mayweather, who seems very afraid of the other guests. After a short time to refresh themselves, the Acolytes attend the Formal Reception, where the rules of the auctions are explained, and where they have a chance to meet the other guests.
