Session 22 (200 xp)

"Serve the Emperor today - tomorrow you may be dead!"

Acolytes: Meghera, Aenid, Monroe, Dar.

The Acolytes interact with the guests, among them:

- a braggard Rogue Trader, Captain Rubio of the Ozmandias,
- a beast hunter, Magyar Marshrek,
- an impeccably polite and very erudite "collector", going by the name of Master Nonesuch,
- a guilder named Octavia Nile,
- two mercenaries,Vymer and Quill,
- the historian Lanus Cisten and his junior scribe, Whent.

They also meet Greel, the Head Mourner, an astonishly tall and thin man, in charge of the Crematorium. Aenid feels very uncomfortable in the presence of Master Nonesuch, but cannot say for sure what is wrong with him. While the others attend the reception, Meghera sneaks into the library, where she discovers a few important details about the Haarlock Warrant.

The day after the Acolytes can inspect the goods for auction, which include several artifacts of xeno origin, and a few exotic weapons. Also the Gilded Widow, a legendary automaton said to possess oracular powers, is presented. Dar looks at a portrait of a member of the Haarlock line, and somehow recognizes himself in the painting.

After having perused all the items, the Acolytes visit the nearby Deadtown, to gather more information about the locals. While they're asking around, Vymer and Quill show up, and start opening fire on Dar. Aenid sets the place on fire, but is brought down by the two mercenaries, who manage to head-shot Dar. Believing they've killed him, the two attackers leave the place. Monroe assists Aenid and Dar, relieved to find out that both are still miraculously alive.
